Satin Chocolate Icing
Need something decadent and easy? Pour it on and let the chocolate drip down the sides. Perfect for brownies, Boston cream-style cakes, banana cake, and anything else that needs a coating of smooth satiny chocolate.
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups icing sugar
- Boil hot water in a kettle.
- Melt chocolate and butter together in a microwave or in a metal or glass dish in hot water, stirring to keep melting even.
- Stir in vanilla.
- Whisk in icing sugar.
- Whisk in enough boiling water to achieve a smooth satiny glaze.
- Pour immediately and carefully over cake.
This icing does not go completely hard but will partially set once poured. Not recommended for dipping strawberries as it does not form a hardened shell.
